Job Details:

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 12-hour night shift; 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, including 2 weekends every 6 weeks

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Requirements:
  • Minimum 1 year of NICU experience preferred
  • Valid RN license or RN license from a participating NLC state
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
  • STABLE certification preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records and clinical data.
  • Evaluate patient responses and intervene to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Develop and implement personalized patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collection.
  • Promote patient advocacy and collaborate to protect patient health, safety, and rights.
  • Provide comprehensive education to patients and families, assessing learning readiness and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching.
  • Deliver compassionate, relationship-based care with respect for cultural and individual differences.
  • Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel per State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
  • Use resources effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
  • Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing practices.
  • Manage resources and patient flow, aligning nursing competencies with patient and unit needs.
  • Adhere to standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with nursing and interprofessional teams to achieve quality patient care and foster open communication.
  • Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
  • Engage in ongoing education and learning opportunities to maintain clinical skills and competencies.
  • Maintain professional records demonstrating competency and lifelong learning.
  • Evaluate personal nursing practice in relation to professional standards and regulations.
  • Actively participate in hospital and unit-based meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes and care delivery.
  • Partake in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
  • Integrate current healthcare research findings to expand clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
  • Floating may be required to any location within sixty miles of the original assignment or designated float zone; assignments may include duties beyond original requirements.
