Job Responsibilities and QualificationsAs a Registered Nurse (RN) in the PACU, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery.
- Conduct age-appropriate assessments for each patient and develop tailored care plans upon their arrival.
- Acquire necessary supplies, equipment, and medications for patient care.
- Monitor patients throughout their recovery process.
- Identify and address airway obstructions, ensuring continuous oxygen therapy and safe extubation.
- Administer intravenous therapy as required.
- Recognize and report any changes in patient conditions to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions prior to their transfer from the PACU.
- Conduct rounds to ensure equipment cleanliness and proper storage.
- Oversee narcotic and medication control.
- Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience as a PACU Registered Nurse in a hospital environment.
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas or a Compact Registered Nursing License, with Texas licensure obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per healthcare policy.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification as per healthcare policy.
