Job Summary

The Utility Groundman plays a crucial role in preparing and maintaining construction sites, handling materials, operating machinery, and assisting skilled tradespeople in their tasks.

This position is integral to the Construction team and collaborates closely with departmental personnel.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and maintain the construction site, ensuring it is free from debris and hazards.

• Support tradesmen in completing their specialized tasks efficiently.

• Monitor utility locations and assist the dig crew to avoid utility damage.

• Maintain and clean equipment regularly.

• Restock vehicles with necessary supplies, ensuring crews have the tools needed for their work.

Qualifications:
Minimum

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Valid driver's license.

Preferred

• One year of relevant experience.

• CDL Class A driver's license.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position operates primarily in a field setting.

This role often requires prolonged periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting, including lifting items in awkward positions. It also involves working in various weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands outlined here represent the requirements an employee must meet to effectively perform the essential functions of this role.

This position is physically intensive, necessitating the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Vision clarity at distances of 20 feet or more, or 20 inches or less, with the capacity to judge distance and spatial relationships.

Precise hand-eye coordination and the ability to identify and differentiate colors are essential.
