UNITE HERE is seeking a skilled Senior Software Developer to join our team. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for building, integrating, and supporting software tools to enable our campaigns.

Our technology teams are dedicated professionals with a strong commitment to our mission. If you are a creative problem-solver looking to help build and support the next generation of labor union technology, you will thrive in this role.

The Senior Software Developer will be a partner in developing individual and team spaces, as well as helping create, upgrade, and support a range of tools and technologies used by the Union.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing new features, enhancing existing features, upgrading packages, improving supportability, and fixing or troubleshooting on UNITE HERE's software suite
  • Collaborating with other developers and department staff to support required applications
  • Reviewing code and pairing with other team members to drive high standards for quality
  • Making project plans that balance features, technology, people, and timelines
  • Participating in making the bigger picture plan for our team and our technical roadmap
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends and technology developments

Requirements include:

  • Motivation to work for economic and social justice
  • Degree in information technology or computer science, or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge of software development and its technologies
  • 7+ years relevant development experience
  • Knowledge of/experience with a varied set of three or more of these technologies: Front-end & mobile development - Angular, HTML/CSS; Back-end development – Python, C#, .NET, Ruby, MS SQL, Postgres SQL; Platforms and infrastructure – Azure, AWS, Windows, Linux; Docker; Terraform; Azure DevOps; GitHub; Jenkins
  • Knowledge of agile development practices
  • Regular travel for in-person teamwork
  • Hybrid work arrangements can be accommodated
  • Expectation of participation in core Union activities

Salary: $85,000 - $95,000, or commensurate with experience. Benefits include family medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, retirement funds, and generous paid time off.

Location: Possible office sites include New York, NY; Boston, MA; New Haven, CT; Baltimore, MD; Washington, DC; other East Coast cities may also be possible.
