Job Summary

As a Sonographer Vascular Specialist at SSM Health, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to patients. This position requires a strong foundation in vascular sonography, with a focus on performing diagnostic procedures using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Set up and adjust equipment, as well as manually maneuver transducers to perform exams.
  • Implement safety standards and perform quality control procedures.
  • Perform routine and complex studies, and assist in various imaging procedures.
  • Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning properly, and report any potential problems or malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Submit high-quality images and documents to PACS, ensuring they are labeled correctly and include patient data/history.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas.
  • Comply with regulatory agencies and work in a constant state of alertness and safety.
Education and Experience
  • Completion of a sonography certification program.
  • No experience required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Rare kneeling and sitting.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) - Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • Or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
