Job Title: Meat Processing Equipment Operator

This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of equipment/machinery utilized in the processing of meat products for Smithfield Foods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, inspect, and operate equipment/machinery in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • Follow standard operating procedures, including completing production-related documentation and meeting product specifications to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Perform tasks that require continuous standing, walking, climbing, and lifting of heavy objects (up to 60 lbs), while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Work in cold and hot environments (20-45°F and exceeding 100°F) and frequent contact with animal fats, while adhering to established safety guidelines and protocols.
  • Wear, use, and maintain personal protective equipment and sharp cutting tools, as required by company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions from supervisors and designated staff, ensuring clear communication and effective teamwork.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to comprehend and pass the PIT training and understand safe driving techniques, as required by company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to properly complete paperwork for production and pre-op check lists, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions and labels, ensuring clear communication and effective teamwork.
  • Follow established personal safety guidelines and policies, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Follow established food safety guidelines and policies, ensuring the quality and consistency of meat products.
