Job Summary

As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) - PRN with Atrium Health, you will be responsible for administering anesthetics to patients undergoing medical or surgical procedures. You will work closely with anesthesiologists to form an integrated anesthesia care team and develop anesthetic plans of care tailored to each patient's needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer intravenous, inhaled, regional, or other anesthetics to render patients insensible to pain during medical or surgical procedures.
  • Maintain anesthetics at required levels and support life functions during the administration of anesthesia.
  • Develop anesthetic plans of care taking into account the patient's medical history and test results.
  • Work in conjunction with the anesthesiologist to form an integrated anesthesia care team.
  • Perform venous and arterial access procedures as necessary.
  • Recognize anesthetic complications or unfavorable patient conditions and adjust anesthetic plans accordingly.
  • Communicate to both the anesthesiologist and the surgeon the patient's status.
  • Remain at the head of the bed when transporting the patient to the recovery unit and submit a complete report to the nurse receiving the patient.
  • Perform a daily check of the anesthesia machine and other essential equipment and demonstrate knowledge of the proper use of the anesthesia machine and accessory equipment.
Requirements
  • NC RN licensure required.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nurse Anesthesia required.
  • CRNA licensure required.
  • BLS and ACLS required per policy guidelines.
