ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and coordinate athletic practices, events, and competitions.
  • Utilize diverse instructional methods to improve student-athletes' performance.
  • Formulate game plans that leverage the team's strengths.
  • Ensure discipline among students during all athletic activities.
  • Encourage sportsmanship and actively prevent bullying within the team.
  • Efficiently manage equipment and facilities.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance coaching effectiveness.
  • Represent the Diocese of Orlando and the basketball program with professionalism.
  • Adhere to inclusive practices in all coaching activities.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned by the Athletic Director.

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate passion and commitment to the community.
  • Show innovative thinking paired with effective planning skills.

CATHOLIC FAITH

This position requires a fundamental understanding and respect for Catholic teachings. Employees are expected to embody behaviors that reflect the Church's mission and values.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of experience in coaching basketball.
  • Knowledge of coaching techniques, rules, and strategies.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Previous experience as a head coach is advantageous.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of the sport.
  • Familiarity with applicable sports regulations.
  • Proven capability to mentor and guide student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to connect with students and serve as a positive role model.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Most activities are conducted indoors in a controlled setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This role involves sitting for extended periods, lifting, walking, bending, and engaging in various physical activities. Visual acuity and the ability to perform specific tasks are also necessary.
