Job Summary

Metro Fire + Security is seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team. As a Fire Alarm Technician, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, repairing, and programming fire alarm systems and panels to the prescribed standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install alarm panels and accompanying devices, including pull stations, horns, strobes, sirens, smoke detectors, and heat detectors, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
  • Perform fire alarm system repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and replace defective parts.
  • Program control panels and all other equipment for fire alarm systems.
  • Use device manuals to repair non-functioning fire alarms and restore fire alarms to original functionality.
  • Repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.
  • Install all wiring to connect system components, complying with all applicable safety standards and with customer's concerns or preferences.
  • Ensure compliance to fire and electrical codes.
  • Demonstrate systems for customers and explain causes and consequences of false alarms.
  • Educate customers on preventative care and regular maintenance to prevent system malfunctions.
  • Communicate daily with service supervisor and/or dispatchers on project delays, requirements, and general status of job.
  • Keep tools and equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, etc.
  • Complete and produce reports that are legible, accurate, and detailed.
  • Invoice paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Stay current with code requirements, industry changes, new products, and developments.
  • Attend and complete all required safety training.

Requirements:

  • New Mexico Fire Alarm License.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3+ years prior relevant work experience.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer needs.
  • Able to carry and move tools and equipment up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions – climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders/stairs multiple times a day.
