Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Acute Medical and Progressive Care unit at University Hospital in Madison, WI. As a member of our team, you will provide comprehensive and specialized nursing care to acutely ill adult patients with multiple comorbidities and complex medical diagnoses.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care to patients with a variety of medical diagnoses, including cystic fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and post-lung transplant.
  • Collaborate with care teams to promote smooth transitions among levels of care, including critical care units and the acute progressive care unit.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to stay current with best practices and advancements in medical-surgical and progressive care nursing.
Requirements
  • 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years.
  • IMC experience required; ICU experience considered but must be willing to work with non-ICU patients.
  • Transplant and tracheostomy experience required.
  • WI nursing license or compact license from permanent address state.
  • BLS and ACLS certification through American Heart Association.
  • Basic Arrhythmia experience and ability to pass UW Health Telemetry test.
Work Environment

This is a 36-hour per week, evening/night shift position with every other weekend rotation and some holidays required. The successful candidate will be required to float to other units as needed and may have shifts scheduled in multiple units.
