Job Summary

We're seeking a highly experienced Protection and Control Engineer to join our team in San Ramon, CA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing protection and control systems for transmission and distribution substations. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our power grid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement protection and control schemes for transmission and distribution substations
  • Select and specify protection devices for equipment within a substation
  • Prepare scopes of work and estimates for evaluating and designing substations
  • Identify and order necessary equipment and materials
  • Ensure adherence to customer standards for relay protection
  • Create drawing packages for substation relay protection, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and other documentation
  • Interface with clients and vendors to ensure successful project execution
  • Perform load calculations for load panels, battery systems, and other substation components
  • Provide field support and pre-inspection for turn-key substation projects
  • Mentor new engineers and contribute to the growth and development of our team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 4+ years of experience in engineering and designing electrical systems within the utilities or energy industry
  • Skilled in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Experience with ETAP, WinIGS, and/or IEEE 88/998
  • Knowledge of SCADA, automation, relay settings, RTU configuration, and protection and control engineering terms and concepts
  • Experience working with the electric utility industry or petro-chemical industry

Ampirical Solutions offers a highly competitive compensation and benefits package, including a salary range of $80,000-$120,000 depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
