Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Novant Health. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing and evaluating laboratory tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the accuracy and precision of test results.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and evaluate laboratory tests, including waived, moderately complex, and highly complex analyses
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration and troubleshooting
  • Ensure the accuracy and precision of test results
  • Investigate and resolve problems and unusual situations
  • Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning
  • Participate in the Education Program to ensure the highest degree of competency within the established scope of patient care
  • Participate in the education and training of students from accredited programs and new employees
  • Participate in the annual evaluations and documentation of competencies of all testing personnel
  • Evaluate and implement new methodologies and procedures as assigned by manager
  • Participate in the implementation of and compliance with standards set by the Medical Center and regulatory/accrediting agencies
  • Interface with Medical Center personnel, physicians, staff from other facilities relative to test results and procedure information
  • Maintain adequate levels of reagents/supplies to perform testing
  • Provide assistance and direction to other staff as needed
  • Generate appropriate and required documentation of testing and support procedures
Requirements
  • Credentials: Medical Technologist (MT) certification or equivalent
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related field
  • Experience: 1 year training in an accredited medical technology program or 3 years experience in a laboratory under the direction of a board certified pathologist
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent communication and teamwork skills
