At HexaQuEST Health, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Perfusionist to join our team of healthcare professionals. As a Perfusionist, you will play a critical role in maintaining extracorporeal circulation during cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain responsibility to the Cardiac Surgeon during cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) procedures.
- Function and operate the heart-lung machine, ensuring proper utilization of necessary knowledge and resources.
- Inspect all tubing and other items inserted into the heart-lung machine, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Administer blood, blood products, drugs, and fluids into CPB equipment as prescribed by the attending physician.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the intra-aortic balloon pump and various equipment used for different bypass procedures.
- Identify and distinguish between different equipment used for different bypass procedures.
- Utilize blood processors and sequestering devices (autologous blood processors and hemoconcentrators) as needed.
- Maintain basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, blood gas analysis, electrolytes, gas exchange, and hemodilution as it relates to CPB.
- Maintain certification and licensure as indicated in specifications above.
- Participate in continuing education to stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field.
- Adhere to operating room rules and regulations, including dress code, sterile technique, and sterilization.
- Maintain accurate and precise charting on the appropriate record during an open-heart procedure.
- Provide 24/7 coverage, rotating call as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of circulatory assist devices, portable cardiopulmonary bypass, and other related devices and procedures.
- Develop expertise in platelet gel and platelet concentrate procedures.
- Acquire knowledge of surgeon preferences and adjust accordingly.
- Adhere to MHS Behavioral Standards.
- Maintain working knowledge of HIPEC procedure.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular perfusion training program.
- Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
- Licensed by the state of Illinois.
- BLS required.
