Position: Bus Driver (Per Diem)
Location: Amsterdam, NY
Classification: Non-Exempt
Supervisor: Transportation Supervisor
Physical Demands: This role requires heavy lifting, pushing, and the ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
Work Schedule: Hours vary from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, typically involving morning and/or afternoon routes. Weekend and holiday work may be necessary, with annual hours reaching up to 1000.
Compensation: $24 per hour
Position Summary:
The Bus Driver is tasked with the operation of all agency vehicles, ensuring precise documentation and compliance with safety and sanitation protocols. This role also involves assisting passengers as necessary and providing individualized support to those being transported.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Preferred qualification or ability to qualify under DOT 19-A standards.
- Must be at least 21 years old with a minimum of six months of bus driving experience.
- CPR certification or the ability to obtain it is required.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is essential.
- A valid NYS Class B CDL driver's license with a passenger endorsement is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate all vehicles in accordance with Liberty Transportation guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage and attendance as required.
- Assist passengers physically as needed.
- Conduct vehicle pre-trip inspections and complete necessary paperwork.
- Ensure the vehicle is kept clean with regular maintenance.
- Report any traffic violations or tickets by the end of the business day.
- Provide respectful and courteous service to all consumers, ensuring their dignity and individual needs are met.
