Job Summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our Aquatics team as a Junior Lifeguard. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere in our pool area, ensuring the well-being of our members and guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pool Safety and Surveillance: Maintain active surveillance of the pool area, ensuring the safety of all individuals.
  • Emergency Response: Know and review all emergency procedures, respond to emergency situations immediately, and complete related reports as required.
  • Pool Maintenance: Support equipment checks, ensure appropriate equipment is available, and perform chemical testing as required.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
Requirements
  • Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration certifications.
  • Lifeguard Certification: Current Lifeguard Certification.
  • Physical and Mental Readiness: Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
  • Age Requirement: Minimum age of 15.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Physical Demands: Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard, including hearing noises and distress signals, remaining alert, and seeing and observing all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
Employment Requirements
  • Background Check: Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, including a Criminal Record check, Drug Screening, and motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company policy.
  • Eligibility to Work: Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.
