Job Title: Open Source Networking Software Engineer

We are seeking an exceptional Open Source Networking Software Engineer to join our team at Canonical. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge open source networking software.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the latest open source networking technologies, including SONIC, DENT, and eBPF. You will collaborate with our team of experts to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our customers and the open source community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop open source networking software using languages such as C, C++, and Rust.
  • Collaborate with our team to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet the needs of our customers and the open source community.
  • Work with our public cloud and network silicon provider partners to ensure seamless integration of our software solutions.
  • Participate in upstream development and contribute to open source projects such as SONIC and DENT.
  • Debug issues and produce high-quality fixes to ensure the stability and performance of our software solutions.
Requirements
  • Exceptional academic track record and undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of networking architecture, design, and protocols.
  • Experience with Linux networking, from kernel to user space.
  • Fluency in C/C++ and at least one of Rust, Python, or Golang.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
  • Passion, thoughtfulness, and self-motivation.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented, with a personal drive to meet commitments.
