Registered Nurse for Admissions

The Admissions RN plays a crucial role as a registered nurse and a member of the Interdisciplinary Team. This position is primarily focused on presenting VITAS services and philosophy to patients and their families, ensuring the admission of suitable patients.
Compensation:
Salary Range: $53 - $58 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the information gathering, analysis, education, and documentation aspects of the admissions process.
- Evaluate patients for hospice eligibility through medical records review as needed.
- Secure consent for the admission of referred patients and families who meet the criteria.
- Analyze data collected by the LPN to facilitate and obtain admission orders.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with referral sources to meet the high-quality expectations associated with VITAS.
- Maintain clinical and professional competence.
- Proactively develop relationships with admissions and patient care resource personnel.
- Utilize interpersonal skills to educate and address any inquiries from patients and their families regarding hospice and palliative care.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of the intake, admission, and transition to care processes, with a willingness to enhance skills in these areas.
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, and colleagues.
- Understanding of clinical manifestations of diseases and the ability to develop VITAS-specific clinical knowledge.
- Proficiency in using the VITAS information system and mobile technology platforms.
- Reliable transportation is required.
Qualifications:
- Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
- Experience in hospital, physician practice, long-term care, or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Strong presentation skills are essential.
- Previous experience in sales or service is advantageous.
Education:
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
