As a Behavioral Specialist - Community Living Instructor at A Bright Future, Inc., you will have the opportunity to work with individuals who require instruction and support to maintain their independence and safety in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement program curricula and deliver individual and group learning experiences to assist participants in achieving their goals.
- Maintain data regarding participant progress and participate in assessment, planning, and evaluation processes.
- Prepare teaching materials for Independent Living Skills Training and Support Service sessions and schedule participant session time according to their Individual Service Plan.
- See participants in their homes to train, teach, and provide support in areas such as money management, nutrition, cooking, comparison shopping, emergency procedures, community education, medical procedures, counseling, and crisis intervention.
- Provide training in ration determination and coordinate participant training programs with other programs they are involved in.
- Assist participants in coordinating with other programs, services, and benefit systems, such as Social Security, AFDC, WIC, Food Stamps, counseling, and Planned Parenthood.
- Understand and convey the participant-centered philosophy of A Bright Future, Inc. in interactions with participants and other agencies.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and individual meetings with supervisors.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with a clean DMV record.
- Must be vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19.
- CPR and First Aid training, or willingness to be trained within 30 days of employment.
- TB clearance within 30 days of employment.
- Department of Justice fingerprint clearance prior to employment.
- Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening prior to employment.
- IHSS provider certification in the county(s) of placement within 30 days of employment.
- Prefer behavioral training and knowledge of Regional Center System servicing developmentally disabled.
- Physical Requirements:
- The employee must be able to talk and hear; regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach within arm's length; lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds; possess visual acuity; and possibly drive during their assigned work shift.
Compensation: $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
