Job Overview

James Construction Group, LLC is seeking skilled concrete finishers (pavers) for our operations. Candidates should be prepared to work in diverse weather conditions and possess experience in various concrete paving settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete including floors, walls, sidewalks, and curbs to meet specified textures.
  • Travel to multiple project sites as required, adapting to varying environmental conditions.

General Expectations:

  • Adhere to safety protocols.
  • Follow both verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely.
  • Assist and report to the immediate supervisor.
  • Deliver quality work in accordance with project specifications.
  • Accountable for tools and materials at the end of each shift.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team.

Functional Duties:

  • Spread concrete to achieve the required depth and consistency.
  • Level, smooth, and shape freshly poured concrete.
  • Finish concrete surfaces to desired specifications.
  • Repair defects in concrete surfaces and patch holes as necessary.
  • Mold expansion joints and edges appropriately.
  • Apply stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring agents to concrete for the desired finish.
  • Produce high-quality concrete surfaces.
  • Mix cement and oversee subgrade work, including form setting.
  • Finish stairways and steps with precision.
  • Break up and repair existing concrete surfaces.
  • Mix and pour grout as needed.
  • Calculate concrete requirements for each task.
  • Visualize objects from drawings and diagrams.
  • Identify differences in size, shape, and form of lines and figures.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 4 years of relevant experience, depending on skill level.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer drug/alcohol screening and physical evaluation.
  • Completion of a New Hire Orientation Quiz.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
  • Compliance with job site safety requirements as mandated by clients.
  • Use of required safety equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and more.

Physical Demands:

  • Adherence to the company's drug and alcohol policy.
  • Ability to pass physical examinations as required.
  • Capability to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. of tools or materials, with assistance for heavier items.
  • Willingness to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces for prolonged periods.

Work Environment:

  • Location: Industrial construction sites and fabrication shops.
  • Mobility Barriers: Uneven ground, obstructed pathways, and confined areas.
  • Environmental Conditions: Predominantly outdoor settings with exposure to extreme weather, humidity, noise, and potential chemical substances.
