Position Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Pharmacy Technician - Compounding. In this role, you will play a vital part in our pharmacy operations, focusing on the preparation, labeling, and dispensing of medications. You will collaborate closely with the Pharmacy Manager and contribute to our mission of enhancing patient care.
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for a variety of technical and administrative tasks, ensuring that all pharmaceutical preparations meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
In your role as a Pharmacy Technician - Compounding, you will:
- Coordinate with the Pharmacist to schedule and prepare sterile admixtures and medical equipment orders.
- Perform calculations related to product preparation and secure validation from the Pharmacist prior to compounding.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to compound sterile and non-sterile admixtures, including but not limited to parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy.
- Prepare and maintain accurate labels, prescriptions, and compounding worksheets, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Generate delivery slips and assist in inventory management of supplies and medical equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of compounding areas, adhering to company policies and safety regulations.
- Engage in departmental meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
- Comply with all relevant accreditation, OSHA, FDA, and state regulations.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program; IV certification is a plus.
- 1-3 years of pharmacy experience, preferably in a home care environment.
- Experience in aseptic preparation of infusion-related pharmaceuticals.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical terminology and calculations.
- Excellent communication and mathematical skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Valid driver's license is required.
