Criminology and Justice Studies Lecturer

Sonoma State University seeks a qualified candidate to fill a part-time lecturer position in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies for the academic year. This is a temporary appointment with a possibility of renewal based on departmental needs and funding.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the department's required core, including criminology and criminal justice theory, research methods, and policy analysis. We are seeking a broadly trained individual with expertise in the interdisciplinary field of criminology and criminal justice.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a relevant field and a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds. A Ph.D. is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively in a collaborative environment, with a focus on promoting student success and fostering a sense of community among students, faculty, and staff.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the university's diversity and inclusion goals through their teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a 15-unit workload per semester and will be expected to participate in departmental and university service activities.

The salary for this position is commensurate with degree level and experience, with an anticipated hiring salary range of $4,530 - $6,056 per full-time month. The full-time monthly base salary range is prorated to the number of units worked and paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Temporary faculty appointments are made on a part-time, temporary basis and contingent upon department needs and funding.
