Responsibilities:
  • Provide patient and family education on endoscopic procedures and ensure a smooth transition throughout the care process.
  • Prepare the endoscopy room with necessary medications and equipment, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients.
  • Utilize advanced knowledge and skills in the use of accessory devices, including hot and cold biopsy forceps, snares, bipolar probes, and ERCP catheters.
  • Evaluate and assess patients' cardio-respiratory status during moderate sedation, reporting any abnormalities to the physician and intervening as necessary.
  • Perform initial vital signs and admission history, including introduction to the patient and family, and notification of the physician within 15 minutes of arrival.
  • Conduct a comprehensive nursing admission assessment, including physiological and psychological factors, to develop a personalized plan of care.
  • Respond to diagnostic data and initiate appropriate action or intervention to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Assess patient education needs and provide individualized instructions on discharge.
  • Identify and address psychological needs specific to the patient's age, growth, and development.
  • Develop and implement a plan of care based on patient needs, prioritizing tasks to ensure efficient and effective care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Administer medications and interventions safely and accurately, recognizing and reporting any adverse reactions.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including instructions and education for patients and families.
  • Perform dressing changes using aseptic technique and collect and label specimens as ordered by the physician.
  • Administer oxygen therapy as prescribed and transfer patients efficiently, completing documentation of transfer summaries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the endoscopy unit.
Qualifications:
  • Current RN license in the state of Florida
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • CPAN certification preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role
