Job SummaryAs an Agronomy Technician with Southern States Cooperative, you will be responsible for preparing and applying custom agronomy products to customers' fields. This includes handling and operating equipment to ensure efficient and accurate application of dry and liquid fertilizer, crop protectants, and other treatment products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare custom application of dry fertilizer, crop protectants, and other treatment products according to customer work orders.
- Transfer dry bulk products from trailers into bulk spreading vehicles.
- Operate bulk spreading vehicles, including dry row spreaders, John Deere dry bodies, spreader trucks, and Terra-Gators.
- Maintain regular communication with team members and manager to ensure efficient scheduling and dispatching.
- Drive to customer locations using Southern States Cooperative vehicles and represent the company in a positive and customer-focused manner.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Previous experience applying fertilizer, crop protectants, and other treatment products, or working in an agricultural environment preferred.
- Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
Work Environment:
This role requires working outdoors and may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals, dust, and extreme weather conditions. Ability to work extended hours and alternate schedules is required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
