Job Description
This role offers the chance to join a dynamic team as a Precision Tooling Specialist on 2nd shift (B Shift) working Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring all tooling requirements, customer requirements, safety, and environmental regulations are met. You will also design, repair, and build precision tooling and gauges used to manufacture compressor airfoils from blueprints. Additionally, you will select tools, machines, and techniques to complete Tool Services assignments on items such as forge dies, machine fixtures, cutters, gages, holding devices, and other special purpose tools.
The position involves performing various types of tooling inspections to ensure tools function properly and conform to engineering and in-process specifications. You will program, set up, and operate any Tool Services machines (CNC or manual operation) needed to complete required job assignments. Problem-solving skills are essential to investigate reasons why tooling does not perform as expected, making in-process repairs when necessary. Advanced shop mathematics through trigonometry and a variety of precision measuring equipment will be used in this role. You will enter and complete Tooling Work Orders using SAP while following shop standard operating procedures and best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and U.S. citizenship. Three years of technical on-the-job experience, CAD/CAM experience or training, CNC Machining experience, Manual Machining experience, Blueprint reading proficiency, working with tight tolerance precision gauge work, Wire EDM, and Precision Grinding are highly desirable. Additionally, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
