Asphalt Paver Operator Role at Grace Pacific LLC

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the operation of the asphalt paver's screed
  • Utilizes the back of the spreader to control asphalt thickness
  • Modifies asphalt thickness through adjustments on the spreader
  • Measures asphalt thickness with a depth rod and implements necessary changes
  • Operates the automatic screed sled according to project specifications and conditions
  • Employs a shovel to address holes and low areas to ensure the required asphalt thickness
  • Supports Laborers and Rakers in achieving surface leveling
  • Inspects vehicles prior to operation and completes necessary CDL documentation
  • Undertakes additional assigned tasks as needed

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Capable of reading, writing, and completing equipment reports
  • Possession of a valid license with a favorable driving record; CDL Type B is preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in paving is preferred
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations
  • Understanding of grade control automation systems
  • Knowledge of grades, slopes, terrain, and material specifications
  • Proficient in using various tools and equipment
  • Physical capability to walk continuously throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required

Grace Pacific LLC primarily employs skilled tradespeople, including carpenters, laborers, and operating engineers. We engage with various unions for staffing as projects develop.
