Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Campus Safety Officer to join our team at Rocky Vista University. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our campus community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular patrols of the campus to monitor CCTV and manage access control systems.
  • Respond to emergency calls, including medical emergencies, personnel safety incidents, theft, and fires, and contact emergency agencies as needed.
  • Participate in organization and departmental safety programs to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Report all incidents to the Manager and/or Supervisor of Campus Safety & Security.
  • Develop and maintain a log of security-related activities, including detailed reports in CAD/RMS and other programs.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, law enforcement, fire, EMS, and other emergency management officials.
  • Enforce State and Federal laws, and University policies and procedures on campus.
  • Assist in the evacuation of buildings during emergency situations and drills.
  • Provide safety escorts to various locations on campus for staff, students, and guests.
  • Receive and document all lost and found property and attempt to identify the proper owner.
  • Distribute mail, assist with event setup and take-down, answer the security phone line, and serve as a resource for questions and requests received.
  • Assist with shift coverage due to illnesses, vacations, holidays, etc.
  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned by the Manager and/or Supervisor of Campus Safety & Security, Director of Campus Operations, and Dean as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a security or law enforcement role.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of safety and security protocols and procedures.
What We Offer
  • A competitive salary of $20.00 per hour, with a $1,000 bonus after 90 days.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, 2 weeks of accrued paid vacation days per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, personal days, 13 paid holidays, and 401(K) match up to 7% based on employee contribution.
