Job Summary

Easterseals Massachusetts is seeking a Recreation Counselor to provide direct support to participants with disabilities in recreational activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist participants in navigating recreational programming and accessing assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
  • Provide support with activities of daily living and facilitate social interactions with peers and staff.
  • Communicate with other counselors, instructors, parents, and caregivers regarding participants' daily experiences.
  • Implement visual schedules, communication boards, and behavior support plans to assist participants.
  • Enforce rules and regulations to ensure participant safety.
  • Complete daily paperwork and assist with transferring participants.
Requirements
  • Ability to work with people of all ages, ability levels, and backgrounds.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Knowledge of the needs of participants with behavioral, learning, and/or physical disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience providing personal care to youth and/or adults with disabilities is preferred.
