Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Weapon Incident/Accident Response Analyst to join our team on a part-time basis (approximately 20 hours/week). The successful candidate will work remotely and provide support to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for Nuclear Matters located at the Pentagon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • National Policy Development: Collaborate with our team to develop, coordinate, interpret, and implement national and DoD policy for responding to accidents or incidents involving U.S. nuclear weapons, improvised nuclear devices, radiological dispersal devices, and other similar threats.
  • Nuclear Weapons Accident/Incident Response Subcommittee Coordination: Facilitate management and coordination of NWAIRS work, including drafting discussion papers and briefing materials and developing strategies and approaches for presenting policy options to interagency participants.
  • Program Development and Training: Work with our team to identify and develop programs, capabilities, and training required to implement national and DoD policy for nuclear accident/incident response.
  • Policy Feedback Loop: Ensure NUWAIX after-action report findings and recommendations are fed back into the policy development process.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Contribute to annual reports to Congress and the President; conduct analysis and prepare relevant staff products and briefings; and routinely draft Principal-level correspondence, staff packages, issue papers, preparatory reading material, presentations, and trip books.
  • Administrative Support: Prepare and disseminate agenda, meeting materials and meeting summaries. Reserve meeting space, ensure attendee access, and other administrative aspects.
  • Travel Requirements: Be available to travel to the Pentagon building in Arlington, VA for one week every three months as well as occasional domestic and international travel to other locations.

Qualifications

  • A valid TS/SCI security clearance is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree and ten years' experience related to U.S. nuclear weapon accident/incident response policy, guidance, exercises, and/or agreements are required. A relevant master's degree or higher may be considered equivalent to some portion of the required experience.
  • Expert knowledge in national policy for nuclear accident/incident response and derivative guidance within the DoD is essential.

Salary: $105,000-$135,000 per annum
