About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate occupational therapist to provide direct therapy to students with special needs. As an Area Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing designated instructional programs, conducting regular assessments, and adjusting IEP goals as needed. Your expertise in occupational therapy services will help students achieve their full potential and reach their educational goals.

Responsibilities
  • Implementing designated student services as detailed in the student's IEP, including hours per week and designated times
  • Completing assessment reports within mandated time frames
  • Communicating results of evaluation and specific recommendations of occupational therapy services to parents, educational staff, and students when appropriate
  • Planning and developing therapeutic intervention goals that are educationally relevant to integrate into students' educational programs
  • Conducting periodic reassessment of therapy objectives as indicated by student needs determined to be educationally relevant
  • Monitoring and collaborating with other professionals and paraprofessionals involved in occupational therapy intervention procedures
  • Documenting and maintaining student progress reports in accordance with district and program guidelines
  • Participating in IEP meetings to present information relevant to student therapy goals
  • Creating an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity levels, interests, and needs
  • Evaluating student progress and determining readiness for termination of occupational therapy services
  • Facilitating in-service education and professional development for related service/occupational therapy staff
Requirements
  • Masters or higher degree in occupational therapy or a related field of study
  • Valid state occupational therapist (OT) license
  • Valid CA state drivers license
  • Prior experience and/or highly knowledgeable in providing occupational therapy services, particularly in special education settings
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making ability
