Overview of the Position

This is a part-time role within the Ambulatory Imaging Division. The incumbent will engage in various technical tasks related to the execution of sonographic procedures.

The position involves supporting the imaging division and performing additional responsibilities as dictated by the scope of practice. Other incidental duties may also be required.

Experience Requirement

A minimum of one year of relevant experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute intricate tasks linked to the operation of sonographic machinery to generate specialized images of targeted anatomical regions.
  • Exhibit proficiency in conducting sonographic assessments and diagnostic procedures in accordance with established protocols, policies, and patient safety standards, requiring no assistance from colleagues.
  • Utilize cognitive sonographic skills to identify, document, and modify procedures as necessary based on anatomical and pathological findings.
  • Employ independent judgment during examinations to accurately distinguish between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Analyze sonograms, integrate sonographic data with medical history, and relay findings to the Radiologist.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies, ensuring timely ordering.
  • Guarantee patient satisfaction and appropriateness of care for all assigned individuals, providing thorough explanations of procedures and addressing patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety and comfort of patients during their care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team, acknowledging the unique nature of sonographic examinations and the needs of patients.
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactively address potential issues before they escalate.
  • Exhibit the ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate positively and efficiently.
  • Conduct quality control measures related to sonography and alert appropriate personnel regarding any issues or maintenance needs, consistently evaluating images for diagnostic quality.
  • Prioritize safety, addressing concerns immediately and actively working to identify and mitigate risks in the work environment.
  • Adhere to safe practices and follow established protocols for equipment disinfection.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintain accurate records.
  • Understand and utilize the Image Archival System.
  • Accurately complete exam tracking, billing, and charge reconciliation on a daily basis, with the ability to modify orders as needed.
  • Provide orientation and training to new staff members.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the Ultrasound Department across the Ambulatory Platform.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and support clerical functions.
  • Foster and maintain ethical working relationships with colleagues, referring providers, and commercial agencies.
  • Coordinate with other staff to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications

Education

Graduation from a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensure and Certification

Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for relevant specialties.

Level I RDMS registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or eligibility for registration, with registration required within twelve months of employment.

ARDMS certifications in Abdomen, OB/GYN, or Vascular must be obtained within 18 months of employment.

Level II requires a minimum of two years of experience as a Sonographer.

Level III necessitates at least four years of experience in the specialty modality for promotion.

BLS certification is required.
