The DC Yard Jockey is responsible for transporting trailers to the correct location within the DC yard and off-site locations, ensuring safe and accurate movement. This role involves transferring trailers between trucks and directing drivers entering and exiting the yard, while maintaining a clean and orderly trailer yard. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work well under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport trailers to the correct location within the DC yard and off-site locations
- Transfer trailers between trucks and direct drivers entering and exiting the yard
- Maintain a clean and orderly trailer yard
- Conduct regular inspections of incoming and outgoing equipment and report any damage
Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record for a minimum of 3 years
- Ability to communicate effectively through reading and writing comprehension
Work Environment
The DC Yard Jockey will work in a non-climate-controlled environment, with regular exposure to the outdoors. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
