Position Overview

The Parking Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and coordinating the activities related to parking enforcement and the maintenance of parking meters within the Parking Division of the Department of Municipal Development. This role involves collaboration with various divisions, external agencies, and the public, while providing essential support to the Parking Division Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of parking enforcement and meter maintenance.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and external organizations.
  • Provide complex staff assistance to the Parking Division Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and experience that meet the following criteria may be considered interchangeable on a year-for-year basis:
  • Associate's degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, business administration, or public administration.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in parking operations, code enforcement, or public relations, including at least one (1) year in a supervisory or lead role.

Additional Requirements
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain by hire date.
  • City Operator's Permit (COP) or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
  • National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment physical.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of tools and equipment used in parking enforcement.
  • Knowledge of modern principles and practices of parking enforcement.
  • Ability to repair and maintain parking meters.
  • Familiarity with local geography and public safety communication codes.
  • Proficiency in office procedures and computer applications.
  • Strong customer service and public relations skills.
