Reports to: Pharmacy Supervisor, Manager, or Director
Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Licensed Pharmacy Technician assists pharmacists in the processing of medication orders by selecting, assembling, and preparing medications for both inpatient (acute care; hospital) and outpatient (ambulatory; retail; home infusion) services. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities within the pharmacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions.
- Reviewing and documenting patient information in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Providing instructions to educate patients on the proper administration of their medications.
- Supporting the Pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy.
- Ensuring adherence to infection-control protocols to protect staff and patients.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification:
Valid ExCPT Certification from the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification, along with registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, is required.
Experience:
Previous experience in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion Pharmacy is preferred.

- Professional engagement with staff and patients.
- Strong problem-solving skills complemented by excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic techniques.
