About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Assistant Fashion Designer to join our team at Boston Proper. As a key member of our design team, you will play a vital role in supporting the creative and tactical needs of our brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design team to develop and implement design concepts, working closely with product development to ensure timely and effective execution.
  • Manage multiple product lines across various stages of development, ensuring timely completion of projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Support the design team in post-seasonal vendor design meetings, sourcing silhouettes for line fulfillment and driving business growth.
  • Develop and implement novelty/trim embellishment layouts and embroidery designs based on seasonal trends, manipulating size, color, and design to meet brand standards.
  • Assist in creating apparel flat sketches and updating artwork using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Conduct research and development of key fabrics, prints, and patterns, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth.
  • Input style creation, updates, and BOM information into our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Create and update category seasonal line sheets, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the technical design team to streamline silhouettes, driving efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain an active role in design meetings, taking notes and following up on outstanding issues to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage and track samples for style creation and development meetings, ensuring timely and effective execution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in women's wear apparel design, CAD, and/or product development.
  • Highly collaborative, organized, and detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills.
  • Strong sketching and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional taste level and an eye for detail, with a solid understanding of fabrics, finishes, details, trims, fit, and construction.
  • Strong sense and passion for print, pattern, and details that make our brand unique.
  • Affinity for working in a team environment, with a strong sense of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Computer proficiency in Adobe Design Suite, with emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel and Word.
