Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced attorney to fill the Senior Corporate Counsel, Labor and Employment position at CarMax.

As a member of our Labor & Employment Legal Team, you will provide strategic legal counsel and business acumen to corporate departments and management.

You will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice on employment-related matters, including federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide authoritative legal counsel on all aspects of employment law
  • Serve as primary point of contact for employment matters arising from multiple assigned regions
  • Offer specialized guidance on CarMax pay plans to payroll and compensation teams
  • Represent and defend CarMax at employment arbitration hearings, frequently without outside counsel assistance

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Licensed attorney with 6+ years of experience in employment law
  • Proven track record of first-chair employment arbitration hearing experience or equivalent first-chair trial/administrative hearing experience
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Able to build strong relationships within business areas and identify resources across the organization
