As a Machine Assembly Specialist II, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing of subassemblies and complete machines, adhering to precise specifications through the utilization of engineering schematics and ISO work instructions. This position involves a variety of tasks including mechanical, optical, electrical, and software operations. A strong mechanical aptitude is essential for success in this role, as well as a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
• Independently and reliably assemble and adjust various subassemblies and major assemblies.
• Produce high-quality assembly products by utilizing prints, work instructions, and accumulated experience.
• Conduct inspections and tests to verify accuracy and quality of work.
• Contribute to the development of work instructions and provide training to peers on assembly techniques.
Qualifications:
The Machine Assembly Specialist II position represents a journeyman-level role, requiring knowledge and proficiency in the following areas:
Sciences:
- Intermediate mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Fundamental electronics concepts: ESD, grounding, capacitors, resistors, PCBA's, power supplies, motors, and wiring.
- Understanding of Units of Measure (both English and Metric) and conversions.
- Proficient reading and writing skills in English at a high school graduate level.
- Basic hand tools: wrenches, torque wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and razors.
- Advanced tools for shaping and forming materials: files, grinders, and lapping plates.
- Basic metrology instruments: calipers, micrometers, scales, dial indicators, and gage blocks.
- Advanced measurement instruments: Collimators, Electronic Levels, Electronic Indicators, and digital multi-meters.
- Power tools: drills, drill presses, belt sanders, and grinders.
- Strong commitment to the care and use of sensitive tools and instruments.
- Analytical skills for identifying issues and developing creative solutions.
- Organizational skills and maintaining a tidy assembly workspace.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- 3+ years of experience in machine assembly or a related field.
- Proficiency in computer usage, including basic MS-Office applications.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy machinery components weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise assembly tasks.
• Stamina to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours) during assembly operations.
• Capability to operate power tools and equipment safely.
