Job Summary:

The 6-8 Grade Coach is a vital member of the Forerunner Mentoring team, responsible for leading a group of students through daily after-school programming. This role requires a dynamic individual who can engage and motivate young minds, while ensuring a safe and impactful experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Lead a group of students in daily activities, including Bible lessons, recreational time, homework assistance, and other planned events.
  • Safety and Behavior Management: Follow all policies and procedures for safety and behavior management, actively monitoring the group and intervening when necessary.
  • Site Stewardship: Take responsibility for setting up and cleaning up after each program session.
  • Activity Planning: Assist in planning and facilitating special activities, service projects, and other initiatives that promote student growth and development.
  • Transportation Support: Provide transportation support for students, if eligible, using Forerunner's vans.
  • Relational Engagement: Build positive relationships with students, encouraging their growth and development.

Requirements:

  • Core Values: Embodiment of Forerunner Mentoring's core values.
  • Availability: Availability to work 22-25 hours per week, between 1:30-6:30 PM, Monday-Friday.
  • References: Three professional references with contact information.
  • Credentials: Successfully pass a drug test and background check, and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead with enthusiasm and positivity.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to use problem-solving skills and make quality decisions.
  • Relational Skills: Strong relational skills, with the ability to coach and correct in a positive manner.
  • Experience Working with Children: Positive experience working with children, especially those from challenging backgrounds.
