Job Description and Duties

Under the clinical direction of the Chief Medical Executive and direct supervision of the Food Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility, the Registered Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy to patients in a correctional health care facility. The Registered Dietitian plans and organizes dietary activity, provides medical nutritional therapy, writes and reviews menus, authorizes substitution or modification of special diets, serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT), and provides counseling to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement medical nutrition therapy plans for patients
  • Conduct nutritional assessments and provide recommendations for patients
  • Write and review menus to ensure they meet the nutritional needs of patients
  • Authorize substitution or modification of special diets as needed
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) to provide comprehensive care to patients
  • Provide counseling to patients on nutrition and health
Requirements
  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association
  • Ability to work in a correctional health care facility
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions

Travel is required.
