LaSalle Network is collaborating with a technology solutions firm seeking a Mainframe Systems Programmer Consultant. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting various initiatives, including the installation, testing, and deployment of new operating systems and system software. This role is a contract position and offers the flexibility of remote work. We accommodate W2, 1099, and C2C arrangements.

Key Responsibilities of the Mainframe Systems Programmer Consultant:

  • Oversee low complexity projects and provide guidance
  • Engage directly with hardware and software vendors to explore new solutions
  • Evaluate client software and requirements to identify cost-effective options
  • Document problem analysis, resolution strategies, and preventive measures
  • Configure z/OS components, customize PARMLIB and JES2, and implement modifications in z/OS environments
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, and other related software

Qualifications for the Mainframe Systems Programmer Consultant:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing a mainframe environment in a large enterprise
  • Proven experience in installing and configuring ZMFA
  • Advanced proficiency in z/OS, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, and Unix System Services (USS)
  • Experience with software installation within USS
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and manage high-pressure situations
  • Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, and learning capabilities
  • Preferred knowledge of z/OS security and systems programming functions
  • Experience with DB2, CICS, IMS, Parallel sysplex, Catalog management, and REXX is advantageous
  • Familiarity with z/OS hardware, LPAR, HMC, and Dynamic Workload Console is a plus
