Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Podiatrist to join our team. As a Podiatrist, you will provide quality patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The incumbent will perform specific duties within their approved scope of practice.

Responsibilities
  • Provide quality patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform specific duties within the approved scope of practice.
  • Qualify to perform duties as a Podiatrist, have completed an accredited residency, and/or possess experience that has qualified the individual to perform general duties and some specialized functions and procedures without supervision.
  • May include attending Podiatrists who train physician residents, assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine.
  • Specific duties and responsibilities for each Podiatrist vacancy vary based on the specialty and will be discussed in more detail with the hiring manager prior to referral/selection.
Requirements
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must be a doctor of podiatric medicine or its equivalent from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
  • Must have completed an accredited residency or its equivalent approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Must currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a healthcare setting and may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials. May be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. Must be physically, emotionally, and mentally competent and able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, without hazard to yourself or others.

Education and Training

Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment. If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.
