Job Overview

This exciting role as a Trial Attorney offers a dynamic blend of courtroom advocacy, vital counsel, and strategic coordination. You'll handle complex insurance defense litigation cases, provide expert guidance to business clients, and monitor new laws and regulations to ensure our strategies remain sharp.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of insurance defense litigation from case inception to verdict, including initial case assessment, discovery, depositions, motion practice, pre-trial negotiations, courtroom advocacy, and post-trial motions to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Gather and organize critical documents, evidence, and legal research for cases, including preparation for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
  • Conduct in-depth legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents; prepare comprehensive summaries and reports.
  • Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other crucial legal documents.
  • Interview clients and witnesses, as well as draft detailed summaries of their statements and maintain accurate communication records.
  • Attend court hearings, depositions, and other key legal proceedings to observe and assist as needed; represent the company or clients in routine matters.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations, and contribute to updating the legal team on potential impacts to ongoing cases.
  • Participate in training sessions and mentorship programs to develop advanced legal skills and gain exposure to more complex legal work.

Education and Experience:

  • Possess a Juris Doctorate degree and be an active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • Demonstrate successful completion of courses focused on legal research, writing, and analysis, showcasing expertise in conducting thorough legal research and drafting clear, well-structured legal documents.
  • Exhibit strong time management skills, effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Display ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process.
  • Show proficiency in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal ethics and the standards of professional conduct.
  • Evidence negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
  • Must be able to commute to courthouses throughout the greater Bay Area.

Compensation and Benefits:

The estimated salary range for this position is $66,800 - 120,650 annually, based on experience and qualifications.

Candidates offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation.
