About the Position

VHB is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Energy Engineering practice. The successful candidate will work with our team to design, develop, and deliver commercial and utility-scale solar PV and battery storage systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical layouts, one-line documents, construction documents, and specifications for solar PV and battery storage systems.
  • Assist with utility interconnection applications, building permit applications, and equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate activities with clients, utilities, permit agencies, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Conduct site assessments and analysis using on-site data collection and network tools.
  • Oversee site-specific production analysis of PV arrays and evaluate tree shading impacts on output.
  • Assist with the integration of energy storage systems into solar PV systems.
  • Prepare technical reports and oral presentations documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Provide expert electrical engineering witness services.
  • Perform system impact studies.
  • Provide mentorship and training to early career engineering personnel.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
  • 5-8 years of professional electrical engineering design experience, with 3+ years of experience in renewable energy systems/commercial & utility-scale solar PV systems.
  • Proficiency with Autocad Civil3D, PVsyst, SKM, and Etap software.
  • Professional Engineering License preferred.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code.
  • Experience working in the northeastern U.S. preferred.
