About the Unit

Our 5 South Medical Unit is a dynamic and patient-centered environment, equipped with 33 beds and a negative pressure room for patients requiring isolation. We also have two single rooms for patients who require private care. Our average census is between 29-32 patients, and we utilize video monitoring to ensure frequent safety checks. We are capable of accepting patients requiring telemetry and prioritize patient and family-centered care through collaboration with our multi-disciplinary team. We are also certified to perform peritoneal dialysis.

Scope of Work

The Registered Nurse (RN) will utilize the nursing process to provide professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients. The RN will work under the direction of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures, and will recognize the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN will partner with patients and families to develop teaching strategies and document education and learning in the patient's health record.

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required within 5 years.
  • Graduates from non-accredited schools of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed healthcare role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) licensure is required.
  • American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
