Job Summary

This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to post-surgical patients, focusing on their physical and emotional needs throughout the recovery process. The successful candidate will administer medications, perform diagnostic tests, and collaborate with the nursing team to establish and implement effective care plans.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medications as ordered by physicians
  • Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, such as chest tube insertion and wound vac changes
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Assess and evaluate patient responses to care rendered

The Surgical Nurse Specialist will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless transitions within the acute care stay and progress toward discharge.

Essential Qualifications
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license
  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
  • Ability to improve job performance through continuing education
