Nuclear Medicine Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Stanford Health Care. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for performing all Nuclear Medicine procedures on patients of all ages utilizing various types of imaging equipment. You will also prepare diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for administration following current radiation safety guidelines and assist in the administration of therapeutic doses.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in instructing residents and other technologists in Nuclear Medicine procedures, protocols, and safety issues.
- Calibrate and draw up radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients.
- Clean and organize the section/unit on your own initiative, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in assigned camera rooms.
- Evaluate recorded images for technical quality.
- Formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits and calibrate instruments, reviewing calibration data to detect trends indicating instrument malfunction.
- Monitor supplies and equipment, making necessary orders and helping to develop new programs to comply with State and Federal Agencies.
- Perform a full range of nuclear medicine prescribed imaging techniques and measurements used in medical diagnosis and evaluation.
- Perform general work when able and help schedule, work assignments, and staff technologists with section organization and development.
- Prepare and maintain records concerning radiopharmaceutical receiving, dispensing, and disposal activities.
- Process computerized image data, including function curves and reconstructed SPECT images, and accurately transfer images to the Picture Archive Communication System (PACS).
- Serve as a team leader with staff, setting goals to move the section/unit to be a more effective unit.
- Work with the Lead Tech to have the section/unit meet all ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) Goals.
- Demonstrate complete knowledge of radiation accidents and be capable of responding to a major accident.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for providers issued by the American Heart Association.
- California Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT-RHN) certification, and one of the following: Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT-RHN) by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) by Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
