The Patient Access Specialist I is a key member of our team, responsible for managing large volumes of inbound and outbound calls. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient information. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional customer service and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage patient scheduling and release of medical information processes to ensure compliance with OSHA/CLIA/HIPAA regulations.
- Verify patient demographic information and insurance details to ensure accurate billing and revenue cycle management.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, family members, and insurance companies, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Collect co-pays, self-pays, and outstanding balances, ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient payments.
- Collaborate with payors, patients, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including filing and distributing patient information, and updating practice management systems.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; medical office experience preferred.
- Less than 3 years of experience in a medical practice, customer service, or revenue cycle department.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
- Proficiency in practice management systems and electronic medical records.
