We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Lifeguard to join our team at the Gaston County Family YMCA. As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our members and participants in the pool area. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key Responsibilities- Pool Safety and Operations: Maintain a safe and clean pool environment, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order and that pool rules are enforced.
- First Response and Emergency Procedures: Respond to emergencies and incidents in the pool area, providing first aid and CPR as needed.
- Member and Participant Support: Provide excellent customer service to members and participants, answering questions and providing information about pool programs and services.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of pool operations, including water chemical testing and incident reports.
- Teamwork and Communication: Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a positive and safe experience for all members and participants.
- Certifications: Must be certified in Lifeguarding and CPR/AED by a recognized organization, such as the American Red Cross.
- Age and Education: Must be at least 15 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods of time, walk, and lift up to 75 pounds.
- Exposure to Communicable Diseases: Must be able to work in an environment where there is a risk of exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to perform rescue responses based on situation and weight.
