- Supporting Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers during examinations, prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families on medication and diet information, answer questions, and provide instructions.
- Environmental Safety: Monitor patient safety by identifying potential hazards, such as fall precautions and faulty equipment.
- Durable Medical Equipment Application: Apply DME as needed, and work closely with the casting/splinting of acute fracture care.
- Abnormal Patient Values Identification: Identify abnormal patient values for triage purposes.
- Confidentiality and Documentation: Maintain patient confidentiality and document medical information using approved medical terminology in the EHR system.
- Exam Room Maintenance: Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials, ensure cleanliness, and prepare lists of medical supplies needed.
- Certification: Must be certified as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or a credentialed medical assistant or licensed health professional.
- Education and Skills: Must have clinical skills, documentation skills, and communication skills. Ability to perform various clinical procedures, computer skill proficiency in EHR, Microsoft Word, and Outlook, and efficiently assist in the coordination of a busy office.
- Personal Qualities: Professional, pleasant, cheerful, enthusiastic demeanor, neat appearance, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, motivated individual with a team approach, and ability to travel to all sites if necessary.
