Job Summary

The Family Health Center of Marshfield is seeking a skilled Dental Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our dental department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality general dental treatment to patients of all ages. Your expertise will include oral disease diagnosis and treatment, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, operative dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive oral evaluations using radiographs, periodontal charting, and impressions.
  • Document and chart extra oral and intraoral hard and soft tissue findings.
  • Provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages, including medically complex and pregnant patients.
  • Formulate, discuss, and agree upon treatment plan options with patients.
  • Extract teeth, perform root canals, remove caries from teeth, prepare teeth for fillings, and insert materials such as amalgam and composite.
  • Restore teeth affected by caries through restorations, crowns, and fixed partial dentures.
  • Diagnose and treat pathological conditions, prescribe medication for treatment of diseases of a dental nature, administer local anesthetic, and take dental radiographs.
  • Fabricate appliances such as dentures, partials, minor orthodontic appliances, fixed partial dentures, crowns, and inlays.
  • Provide patient education and oral health instruction.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner to ensure records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Train staff on appropriate dental applications when necessary to ensure a well-educated staff.
  • See emergency patients and perform emergency procedures to reduce or eliminate immediate pain.
  • Perform in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Act as a clinical leader and resource, promote a positive work environment, and support change within the department and organization.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Proctor dental student externs in providing comprehensive dental care.
  • Regular attendance of contracted hours is required to carry out the essential functions of this role.
  • Review and meet ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform within scope, role-specific functions.

Job Qualifications

Education

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.


Minimum Required
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

Certifications/Licenses
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required

Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a valid, unrestricted license to practice in the State of Wisconsin.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association within three months of hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association at time of hire.

Patient Populations Served
Individuals hired are expected to serve patients of different ages, backgrounds, etc.

When performing the essential functions of the role, the individual must identify the patient age group to be served and apply the appropriate care based on the patient's age and background.

The hiring manager is responsible for communicating the patient population generally encountered in the role and is responsible for ensuring the appropriate cultural, age and related training needed to serve the patient populations.
