Radiation Oncology Section Chief Opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly qualified Radiation Oncology Section Chief to lead the Radiation Oncology Department at the Memphis VA Medical Center. As a key member of the medical center's leadership team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, management, and leadership of the department.

The Memphis VA Medical Center is a 1a complexity tertiary care VA healthcare system located in one of the fastest growing Veteran population regions in the United States. The facility provides comprehensive care to almost 69,000 enrolled Veterans in a 52-county area of Western Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Northeast Arkansas. It includes 236 inpatient beds with a 26-bed Spinal Cord Injury Unit. The medical center is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology, as well as extensive education and research programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee clinical and administrative performance measures, strategic planning, budget, and resource management
  • Collaborate with other disciplines, facility employees, and leadership to achieve departmental goals
  • Ensure the radiation oncology program is compliant with Federal and State laws
  • Support liaison with affiliated schools regarding medical teaching issues and provider appointments
Highlights of the Position
  • Experience-based salary range: $350,000 - $400,000
  • Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
  • CME reimbursement: possible $2,000 per year (must be Board Certified)
  • Malpractice liability protection with tail coverage
  • Incentive: Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment)
Requirements
  • Board Certified in Radiation Oncology
  • Five plus years of leadership experience preferred
  • Full and unrestricted license from any state
  • US Citizenship: non-citizens may be considered when it's not possible to recruit qualified citizens
  • Proficient in the written and spoken use of the English language

Compensation Information:
